Timehin Sonubi, the founder of Duty Above Desire, comes from a culture where names carry weight and meaning, rooted in the belief that the names we are given are truly prophetic; they serve as constant reminders of our identity and our ultimate destiny. On June 21, 2024, when his son was born, he received a new name: Dad. However, this name felt different because it didn't come with an inherent meaning—not yet. He spent time praying through it, questioning what this title would require of him and who he would have to become to carry it with honor. From that reflection emerged the guiding phrase, "Duty Above Desire." Now, whenever he hear the word "Dad," he is reminded to choose calling over comfort and purpose over preference, understanding that fatherhood is not merely a role, but a divine assignment.
